One of Italy's greatest reggae voices, even abroad, will be joined by a renowned island artist: on Friday, November 28th, the Jester Club's fall lineup will be filled with Jamaican sounds with the visit of singer-songwriter and rapper Brusco, founder of the historic Villa Ada Posse. The show is set for 10 pm at the venue on Via Roma 257, where the talented Forelock, a star of the Italian scene originally from Sassari, will be opening the show.

Villa Ada

Born Giovanni Miraldi in 1974, Brusco began his career in the cultural powerhouse that was Rome's Forte Prenestino in the 1990s, when the foundations were laid not only for Italian hardcore punk and hip hop, but also for posse music. Reggae, dancehall, raggamuffin, and other Kingston sounds began to take over, and in 1992, the young artist and several friends founded the Villa Ada Crew. Together, they played for several years at community centers across the country, forging friendships with like-minded acts like Sud Sound System. In 1997, they released the self-produced hit "Musically."

Abrupt soloist

The new millennium saw Brusco leave the posse, choosing a solo path while writing "Se Vola," part of the soundtrack to the Manetti Bros. album "Zora la vampira." With two producers at his side, he released his self-titled debut in 2001, a small taste of the successes "Il mondo è anche mio," "Sotto i raggi del sole" (a cover of Edoardo Vianello's "Abbronzatissima"), and the catchy "Ti penso sempre," all from "Si fa presto a dire... Brusco" (2003). Since then, the artist has maintained credibility in his hometown and gained recognition in the pop market, continuing to release albums and collaborate with artists—most recently, with Clementino and Gemitaiz—and performing his music live, including internationally.

The Opening of Forelock

Forelock (Alfredo Puglia) was 17 when he, along with his friends, founded Arawak in Sassari in 2003. This marked the beginning of a journey that would lead the "riddim band" to play on the most important reggae stages in Italy and Europe, attracting the attention of dub maestro Paolo Baldini. Forelock began a regular collaboration with Baldini, continuing his experience as Arawak's lead singer, and sharing the stage with international stars such as Alborosie and Mellow Mood. In 2023, he embarked on a new solo journey, drawing influences from R&B and dancehall on the extended-play "Follow Me."
