«At the bottom of the inscriptions, there remain hypotheses, sometimes suggestions, which, lacking any evidentiary basis (...), have not even allowed for the elaboration of complete preliminary indictments» and for «usefully carrying out investigations of any kind».
This is stated in the decree with which the Milan Public Prosecutor's Office requested the dismissal of Inter's case, a club under investigation under the law on corporate liability in refereeing cases.
The document also emphasizes how the lack of evidence leads to the accusation of sporting fraud being downgraded "to the level of mere inference" against Gianluca Rocchi, the former referee's designator, whose case has been dismissed for this crime.
