The results of the Serie C playouts complete the picture of the teams relegated at the end of the 2023/24 season, a matter that also concerns Olbia, who were directly relegated in April, after seven consecutive saves, in a repechage key.
After the play-offs, which ended yesterday with the convictions of Fiorenzuola (Group A), Recanatese (Group B), Francavilla and Monterosi (Group C), it is possible to draw up a first ranking that sees Recanatese and Fiorenzuola, who gained 38 points at the end of the regular season, ahead of Francavilla, Monterosi and Pro Sesto (35 points), Fermana (31 points), Olbia (26 points), Brindisi (25 points) and Alessandria (20 points). From a repechage perspective, clubs relegated to the playouts are favoured, unless they have already benefited from repechage or readmission in the last 5 years, or have incurred penalties, in which case they would be excluded, a rule which also applies to directly relegated clubs. .
After the second teams of the Serie A clubs - see Milan, which will have the Under 23 team - this year to integrate the Serie C staff, the ranking of those relegated from Serie C will be drawn first, then that of the teams that have won the Serie D playoffs (Syracuse, Ravenna and L'Aquila in pole), and so on, one former C and one from the D playoffs, respecting the criteria of the ranking, which will weigh 50 percent, of sporting tradition (25 percent) and spectators (25 percent).
All that remains is to wait until 5 June, the deadline for applying to register for the Serie C championship, to find out how many places will be available for the repechage, which is used when the eligible clubs send the documents to Lega Pro but not pass certain checks. Another thing is readmission, which is triggered when a club that has the right to join the Lega Pro renounces it: in this case, to decide which team should take the place of the one that renounced, the points ranking is taken into account obtained from relegated clubs, a ranking in which Olbia is third from last and, therefore, far from being able to benefit from it.
