Child pornography and solicitation of minors for sexual activity.

These are the crimes of which R. Kelly was found guilty, convicted by a Chicago jury on a total of six counts. Now he faces up to 20 years in prison.

The R&B singer (star of the famous "I believe I can fly", "Space Jam" soundtrack) was instead acquitted of conspiring to obstruct justice in a 2008 trial . He was being investigated for an alleged attempt to conceal evidence of abuse.

Kelly, 55, had already been sentenced in 2021 to 30 years for organized crime and sex trafficking: a sentence that now risks being lengthened further.

The facts date back more than twenty years ago, a period in which videos were shot in which the American producer had sex with a 14-year-old girl . "Jane", as she calls herself, had chosen not to testify in 2008 and the singer had been acquitted of all charges. A month ago, however, the now 37-year-old woman decided to speak up, telling how R. Kelly had abused her hundreds of times when she was a minor.

During the trial, videos were shown showing R. Kelly having sex with Jane and engaging in degrading and humiliating practices: in one of the images the singer ordered her to lie on the ground and then urinated on her .

The 55-year-old had been accused by four other women .
