The island of Asinara once again protagonist of a documentary that tells the life in the former prison, a documentary entitled "Where the wind is born", the first work signed by the Cagliari director Francesco Tomba.

A Tusitala production that will be presented tomorrow in Cagliari at the Foundation of Sardinia and on Wednesday 24 November in the Uta prison.

At the center of the docufilm is the story of Rinaldo Schirru, a former prisoner and now a poet and writer, who with his wife Ottavia Melas returns to the island after many years to relive his memories, his memories as a "forlorn" prisoner, or among those who enjoyed greater freedom and could move around the island to carry out the activities assigned to them.

Rinaldo Schirru was a shepherd who spent four years and ten months in the agricultural penal colony, living among the uncontaminated landscapes, among the white donkeys and the wild nature. In that same place, which has now become the Asinara National Park, he reconstructs the moments spent with the other ex-prisoners, sad and melancholy stories, full of pain and pride.

The docufilm was presented in August in India, at the Tagore Film Festival, where it received the "Outsanding achievement award". It was also selected in the "La prima cosa bella" category - first film - of the Asti film Festival scheduled for 14 to 18 December.
