Stellar cast and production, it was a colossal flop. "Cliff of Desires" (in the original "Boom!"), Starring Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton , then one of the most acclaimed stars on the planet - directed by Joseph Losey on a screenplay by Tennessee Williams - was shot in 1967 in a unspoiled corner of Sardinia, on the cliffs of Capo Caccia, in Alghero .

And it is on this film with a troubled life that Sergio Naitza's documentary film "The Summer of Joe, Liz and Richard" , produced by Karel, which will debut on Monday 17 October, premiered at the Rome Film Festival, with a scheduled screening. at 6 pm at the Casa del Cinema.

"Boom" was produced with a very high budget for the time, under the umbrella of Studio Universal: there were therefore all the conditions for it to become a great international success, instead "The cliff of desires" was instead a sensational and unpredictable flop in the hall and was massacred by the American critics, on his debut in May '68.

The documentary that incorporates clips films, stills, press clippings from the era in which "The Cliff of Desires" was shot.

The troupe was stationed in Sardinia for almost three months, occupying the Capo Caccia hotel which was barely two years old: it was 11 August 1967 when the first take was given, on 23 October when the last one was taken.

In the docufilm the photography is by Luca Melis, the editing by Rossana Cingolani with Sergio Naitza, the music by Romeo Scaccia and the animations are by Bruno D'Elia.
