The tale of history's most famous sacrifice, told through dance: after yesterday's performance in Alghero and tonight's in Nuoro , the island tour of " The Man ," a show inspired by Mel Gibson's "The Passion of the Christ," continues. Directed by Cristiano Fagioli and produced by RBR Dance Company , the choreographic narrative will be performed at 9:00 pm on Tuesday the 3rd at the Teatro Comunale in San Gavino Monreale , and at 8:30 pm on Wednesday the 4th at the Teatro Centrale in Carbonia , in a new tour promoted by Cedac Sardegna .
In the wake of the Jubilee proclaimed last year, "The Man" has returned to the stage of numerous Italian theaters, after having made its world premiere in 2015 at the Teatro Petruzzelli in Bari and then toured until 2020, in a co-production with the Camerata Musicale Barese . Taking inspiration from Gibson's opera, the central theme is the story of Christ's martyrdom, as a manifestation of love, heroism, and tenacity through self-immolation , a concept that has captivated the imagination of both devout and non-believers over the centuries.
The dance thus amplifies the message and its profound meaning, blending ancestral references, cultural references, and, of course, the emotional aspects of the original story. And unraveling its most salient moments, the choreography—by Fagioli and Cristina Ledri —moves through sparse, suspended scenes, constantly reflecting on the eternal conflict between good and evil , and the invincible power of forgiveness and love.
With the special participation of Paolo Valerio as the play's narrator, Fagioli is also responsible for the lighting design, while Ledri also handled the costumes. The video set design is by Gianluca Magnoni .
