A month ago in New York, “Riva Luigi '69 '70. Cagliari in the days of the Scudetto", the show by Cada Die Teatro, which tells the story of Gigi Riva and Cagliari, champions of Italy, was a guest of the Sardinian club "Shardana", obtaining great appreciation from the public and critics.

The monologue, written and performed by Alessandro Lay, now returns home and on the occasion of "Under this sky", the en plein air exhibition organized by the Cagliari company, it will be under the spotlight on Friday 5 July, at 9.15pm, in the Corte della Vetreria di Pirri.

The show, which has received convinced acclaim from the public and critics since its debut, is dedicated to an icon of the history, not only of sports, of Cagliari and of the whole of Sardinia: Gigi Riva, who was and remains, even more so after his passing last January, a myth in the world of football. Gianni Brera - as he is known - nicknamed that champion, who arrived very young from Leggiuno on the island, "Rombo di Tuono", for his power, competitive ardor and excellent goalscoring skills.

«In 1970, when Cagliari became champions of Italy, I was 8 years old», writes Alessandro Lay in the presentation notes of the show. «I don't remember much about the scudetto, but I remember how the city was, how we dressed, how we hung onto the trams to avoid paying, the Panini album and the 'card' games on the steps of the primary school. I remember the medal collection, with the profiles of the Cagliari players on the fake, fake gold coins to collect. And I vaguely remember a shy, sometimes smiling boy who always looked the other way when they interviewed him. A boy who put his fists on the ground and ran all over the pitch every time he scored a goal..."
