On the occasion of the ninetieth anniversary of the birth of Maria Carta, the Dalerci Musical Band offers a concert entitled "Portrait of Maria" , scheduled for Saturday 22 June from 8.45pm in the "Maria Carta" square in Siligo.

«Through this poetic musical event, sponsored by the municipality of Siligo, the Maria Carta Foundation and the Sardinia Region, we propose a real journey through time in which we will retrace the most significant moments of the Sardinian artist's long career, through the reinterpretation of some songs and soundtracks of which Maria Carta was the protagonist", explain from the Banda Dalerci of Alghero. We begin with the song “ The Theme from ' The Godfather' ” (from the film “ The Godfather” in which Maria Carta played the role of the mother of little Vito Corleone) to continue with the songs “ Funeral of a Worker” (by Joao Cabral de Melo-Chico Barque de Holland-Ennio Morricone) sung by Silvia Meloni; “ Digligli tu al tuo Dio” (soundtrack of the drama “ Moses” broadcast by Rai in the 70s) sung by Marta Soggiu; “ No potho Reposare” (by Salvatore Sini-Giuseppe Rachel) sung by Silvia Meloni; “ Hasta Siempre” (by Carlos Puebla) sung by Tania Giugni Rodari.

Furthermore, interesting for the poetic musical combination will be the songs " Countries che vai" (born from the fusion between " Al mio Paese" by Maria Carta, Maurizio Marrocchi, Giampiero Artegiani and " Lo Pais Meu" by Antonio Cao) sung by Daniele Cambule; “ Cuori” (fusion between “ Le Memorie della Musica” by Maria Carta, Maurizio Marrocchi, Giampiero Artegiani and “ Lo Cor Meu” by Franco Cano (winning song of the recent edition of the Alghero song festival) sung by Daniele Cambule; “ Ave Maria ” (fusion between “ Deus Ti Salvet Maria” and “ L'Ave Maria Algherese” by Isabella Montanari) sung by Marta Soggiu.

However, the tribute reserved for the woman from Siligo is unpublished: " Maria" is the title of the song in Alghero written by the singer-songwriter Franco Cano and performed by Daniele Cambule, whose orchestral score will be donated to the Maria Carta Foundation.

There will also be space for poetry, with Professor Enza Castellaccio who will recite the text "Shadows" written by Maria Carta, translated into Alghero and illustrated by the pupils of the fourth class D of the "Maria Immacolata" primary school in Alghero.

During the evening the Alghero artist Mauro Morittu will create a portrait of Maria Carta which will be given as a gift to the Maria Carta Foundation. The evening will be presented by Giommaria Pinna.
