After airborne continuity, the issue of maritime continuity also arrives in Parliament.

It is brought by the deputy of the Left Green Alliance, Francesca Ghirra, who presented a question to the Minister of Transport Matteo Salvini.

"For almost ten years - recalls the deputy - the management of continuity has been entrusted in direct concession to Tirrenia, but since February 2021 the government has decided to entrust the sections through a tender ".

To this must be added two things: the decrease in resources allocated by the government, which went "from 72 to 30 million euros a year" and the splitting up of the continuity plan, with the decision to put each individual section out to tender separately.

«This choice – observes Ghirra – has favored small operators sometimes lacking the professionalism and stability necessary to guarantee a quality service compared to solid and well-structured shipowners on the market, who could have guaranteed more numerous routes and lower rates for residents».

Thus speaks of "serious inefficiencies" the deputy: " Low frequencies, expensive journeys, and in March the concession of the section that connects Civitavecchia, Arbatax and Cagliari expires ." I presented a question to the Minister of Transport to find out how he wants to guarantee the constitutional right of continuity to the Sardinians and how many resources he intends to invest».

Another aspect not to be underestimated is Tirrenia's seafarers "who risk losing their jobs with the next tenders".

«We hope – Ghirra hopes – that the answer will be more convincing and effective than what Undersecretary Bignami reported on air continuity».
