A journey through faith, art, and hope. The painting and photography exhibition "Pilgrims of Hope in Sardinia" opens on Thursday, October 9th at 5:00 PM in the hall of the Church of San Lucifero in Cagliari. The exhibition is sponsored by the parish of Seuni (Selegas) with the patronage of the Metropolitan Archdiocese of Cagliari and the Patriarchal Order of the Holy Cross of Jerusalem.
The initiative, which will be open to the public until Sunday, October 12, will be inaugurated by the city councilor for culture, Maria Francesca Chiappe.
The exhibition's title is inspired by the Jubilee of 2025, proclaimed by Pope Francis, a year dedicated to the theme of hope and spiritual renewal.
The exhibition aims to be an opportunity for shared reflection, in which twenty Sardinian artists offer their personal interpretations of the inner pilgrimage, the search for the sacred, and the human dimension of faith.
"Even a small parish like Seuni," explains Monsignor Gianfranco Zuncheddu, spiritual director of the Trexente community, "wants to offer ideas and initiatives that foster Christian reflection for a renewal of life. Artists are an extraordinary vehicle for this conversion, because they know how to look deeply and far into the distance, exploring reality beyond appearances."
Twenty artists are involved in the project: Maria Cecilia Angioni, Miriam Battelli, Marystela Caprio, Gianfranco Casu, Diego Dessì, Emanuela Lutzu, Maria Gabriella Melis, Antonio Milleddu, Edoardo Murgia, Pier Vanni Marineddu, Franco Murru, Antonio Picciau, Luigi Picciau, Fabrizio Pinzuti, Elisabetta Sirigu, Biancamaria Scioni, Alessio Todde, Sara Valente, Katia Zuncheddu and Patrizia Zuncheddu.
Each artist, through painting or photography, expresses their own idea of a "pilgrimage": not just a physical journey to a place of faith, but above all a journey of awareness and inner rebirth.
The works explore themes such as light, solitude, travel, community and the relationship with nature, in a Sardinia that becomes a metaphor for arrival and departure, for memory and future .
The exhibition, set up in the spaces of the church of San Lucifero, thus transforms into a spiritual and artistic map of the island, where the language of faith meets that of the imagination.
The choice of location is no coincidence : the church of San Lucifero, one of the oldest and most symbolic religious buildings in Cagliari, becomes for four days a crossroads of culture and spirituality, a place where art dialogues with the community and with the dimension of the sacred.
The goal – the organizers emphasize – is to foster a meeting between artists, faithful, and citizens, to rediscover the profound meaning of "walking together" evoked by the Jubilee.
