The "Sa Mesa Nostra" initiative is aimed at all lovers of good food and local gastronomic traditions , and this weekend offers a journey into the world of olive oil with the "Oro d'Oliva" event. From Thursday to Saturday, a series of events are organized by Confcommercio Sardegna, Confcommercio Nord Sardegna, and the Regional Department of Trade and Tourism.
The heart of the event extends throughout northern Sardinia, offering customers of participating restaurants the chance to enjoy a unique sensory experience: a free tasting of typical local oils.
It all kicks off Thursday at the Costa Smeralda Airport (Olbia) from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. with the "Taste Journey" and a talk titled "Food and Culture." It will be a time for discussion and insight, enhanced by a cooking demonstration in collaboration with the Gallura Chefs Association, showcasing traditional Gallura dishes.
On Friday, transfer to Sassari, to the Orti di San Pietro headquarters: from 4:30 pm to 8 pm, a meeting entitled "Let's Learn to Taste," led by agronomist and expert olive oil taster Giandomenico Scanu. Detailed instructions will be provided to guide the audience in the correct perception and sensory evaluation of olive oil, followed by a tasting.
On Saturday, at the same time and in Sassari, there will be a packed program of cooking demonstrations, talks, and tastings. The initiative will be held in collaboration with the Istituto Professionale Alberghiero of Sassari, highlighting the strong connection between professional training and the promotion of local excellence. Chef Luca Pappagallo will be the event's ambassador.
