"The mass killers" is the new book by Professor Vincenzo Maria Mastronardi , written together with Dr. Monica Calderaro . The question many people ask themselves is always the same: are all murderers the same? Criminology divides them into precise categories, taking into account the motivations, methods of action and purpose of the crime. This new literary effort, the result of many years of study and research, deals with the theme of mass murders , both in Italy and in America , which occur in shopping malls, but also shootings in schools and murders-suicides in the family. A cross-section of pain and death that is now part of our daily lives.

A book that is " the result of a whole series of previous works done with the American George B. Palermo , an expert on the Dahmer case and other well-known American reports" explains Mastronardi , psychiatrist, psychotherapist and clinical criminologist, former director of the Psychopathology chair forensics at the Sapienza University of Rome and director of the International Institute of Criminological and Psychopathological-Forensic Sciences.

«My previous known books with him – he continues – also saw the collaboration of Professor Hazelwood and Professor Napier , both professors of the FBI». "Since then - he adds - by dealing with the profiling of the criminal , and therefore also with serial killers, at a certain point, physiologically, we have put into practice what is the one-inclusive vision of a whole series of crimes in all parts of the world, i.e. the killers mass, which in America are carried out in shops, malls, schools. In Italy, however, they take place in the family. These cases are characterized by a particular triad: low threshold of stress tolerance, depression and particularly marked narcissism ».

«I am honored to know and collaborate with the one I consider my teacher since 1979, at the time of my enrollment in the postgraduate university course in Criminology and Forensic Psychopathology at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Bari; we never lost sight of each other so much so that he renewed his trust in me by appointing me as his contact person for Sardinia both for the International Institute of Criminological and Forensic Psychopathological Sciences and as Guarantor for Crime Victims" the words of the lawyer Gianfranco Piscitelli , president by Penelope Sardegna odv and vice president of the Luna e Sole odv association "There is no case of heinous murders, there is no eve of important speeches that do not see me in a call conference with him even in the middle of the night - continues Piscitelli - : and he is always there, with his immense preparation, professionalism and willingness to remove my doubts, limit my excesses. In the latter work, in addition to his experiences of collaboration and exchange with the police forces of many states, the professor tackles for the first time the local cases of family massacres often ending in suicides . Monica Calderaro, co-author, reports her visions of the problem with her indisputable experience as a forensic criminologist and graphologist . Certainly the book will offer new interesting scientific readings of the topics covered, offering ideas for learning and reflection".
