"Dear Union,
yesterday I sent the 1146 signatures collected to the mayor and the municipal council of Cagliari to have the name of Gino Strada included in the list of toponyms of the city.
I am aware that the ten years required by law will have to pass for a street or square to be dedicated to his memory, even though in cities such as Reggio Emilia and Genoa, motions have already been approved in this regard. I hope that the city of Cagliari can also be added to the list.
I think it is important for the Sardinian capital to remember the figure of Gino Strada.
His work, especially in poor and difficult territories, is a human and social heritage and it is the duty of the community to keep his memory high. Gino Strada has represented a symbol recognized all over the world and is an example for everyone and above all he must be so for future generations ".
