Tales of love, bandits, and women capable of facing down "su dimoniu" (the devil) when, out of the blue, he would appear to offer money or years of life to those in need, asking in exchange for signing a pact with him. After the performance in Quartu (at Sa Dom'e Farra), Istorias , a Cada Die Teatro production by and starring Pierpaolo Piludu and Su Cuncordu Iscanesu (Pietro Dettori, sa Oghe, Sandro Flore, su Bassu, Gian Piero Motzo, sa Mesuoghe, Antonio Piras, sa Contra), reached Scano Montiferro , at the Teatro Nonnu Mannu . It was a significant stage during which many moments of great inspiration were experienced. The staging was by Mauro Mou and Silvestro Ziccardi, with linguistic expertise in Logudorese Sardinian by Francesco Sanna and Antonio Piras, musical direction by Gigi Oliva, sound by Matteo Sanna, and lighting by Giovanni Schirru. The performance is an integral part of the Hymnos Off festival, organized by the Hymnos Foundation, a meeting of theater, canto a tenore, and the Sardinian language, rooted in oral memory and folk tales. Hymnos is an interdisciplinary cultural organization that aims to promote the heritage of oral polyphony and other vocal forms of Sardinia within the Mediterranean and European context.
The roots
"Istorias (Stories) was born from the desire to return to the roots of Sardinia's oral and musical culture," explains Pierpaolo Piludu. The Logudorese Sardinian language, the language of poetry, intertwines with Italian and the tenor voices of Su Cuncordu Iscanesu. Alongside traditional pieces from the Su Cuncordu repertoire, the Cada Die company is experimenting with them "the creation of sound environments in which the narrative voice is inserted like a fifth element, blending theater and traditional song in a precious and original balance." Some stories from the show are included in the book "Pósidos," published by Condaghes.
