A historical recital that brings to life the events of April 28, 1794. Tomorrow at the Teatro Astra in Sassari (beginning at 8:30 pm) the performance of "Giovanni Maria Angioy – Storia di una rivoluzione mancata" (Giovanni Maria Angioy – Story of a failed revolution) , written by Michele Pio Ledda and directed by Mario Lubino, will be performed. Admission is free.
The Compagnia Teatro Sassari 's performance commemorates the Sardinian Vespers and is part of the celebrations for the Sardinian people, marking 230 years since Giovanni Maria Angioy's arrival in Sassari, when the Alternos was welcomed by a cheering crowd as a liberator and bearer of hope against the feudal system.
“Giovanni Maria Angioy – Story of a failed revolution” is constructed in the form of a historical recital : before leaving for exile, Angioy retraces the fundamental stages of his dazzling and desperate adventure, the decisive moments of his personal and political life, between ideals, passions, alliances and betrayals.
The show will be enriched by the participation of the Logudoro Choir of Usini , who will welcome the audience to the steps of the Astra Theatre with the symbolic song of the revolt, “Procurade e moderare” .
In the theatrical story, the central figures of his existence and of the revolutionary season come to life again: Giovanni Maria Angioy – Alternos ( Stefano Dionisi ), Maestro Domenico Alberto Azuni ( Aldo Milia ), Don Rubatta – friend ( Paolo Colorito ), Bonifacio Cocco – commoner ( Alberto Lubino ), Don Obino – friend ( Michelangelo Ghisu ), Ambrogia Soddu – the mother ( Teresa Soro ), Viceroy Filippo di Vivalta ( Mario Lubino ), Pier Francesco Angioy – the father ( Claudio Dionisi ), Margherita Arras – the mother ( Alessandra Spiga ), Donna Annica Angioy – the wife ( Marina Serra ).
On Bandidore ( Michele Pio Ledda ).
Photos of the mural painted in Bono by Liliana Cano will be on display in the foyer of the Astra Theatre.
