A missing child, a young woman found dead in the woods, a past that comes back to demand its secrets. "From Nothing," the first feature film by Fluminimaggiore-born director Joe Juanne Piras , arrives in Sardinian cinemas. Piras, who co-wrote the screenplay with Francesca Maria Scanu, is a psychological thriller in which suspense and memory intertwine against the backdrop of an unusual, cold, and noir-like Sardinia.

Before its theatrical release on the island, scheduled for Wednesday, November 4th, the film will be the protagonist of six days of previews, from October 29th to November 2nd, with events in Cagliari, Oristano, Samassi, Carbonia and Sassari.

From Nothing walks the line between psychological thriller and drama , tackling themes such as child abuse, trauma, and repression. At the heart of the story is the idea that the past, even when seemingly erased, continues to affect the present. This tension is embodied by Selene Caramazza 's performance, which leads the viewer on an increasingly disturbing investigation, where the search for truth also becomes a reckoning with oneself.

"To address the deepest contradictions of the human soul through the filter of genre cinema. Driven by this need, together with Francesca, I decided to write Dal Nulla," explains director Joe Juanne Piras (Giovanni Piras' stage name) . "We wanted to delve into the characters and address themes like child abuse and the emergence of repressed memories through a story that didn't sacrifice suspense, tension, and entertainment. Sardinia," he explains, "was crucial in giving all this a precise identity. I didn't want to portray the bright, summery island of the most familiar imagery, nor construct an artificially dark version of it. I was interested in an inland Sardinia, cold, gray: woods, mountains, fog, small villages , large spaces where the presence of man sometimes seems almost temporary."

Produced by Alessandro Borrelli for La Sarraz Pictures, in co-production with Canada Inc and with the support of Red Collision Colombia, the film, alongside the protagonist Selene Caramazza, features a cast that includes Riccardo Lai , Lucho Velasco , Syama Rayner and Ryan Bommarito , Lia Careddu , Felice Montervino , Giuseppe Boy , Maria Teresa Campus , Emilio Puggioni , Silvio Orvieto , Daniel Dwerryhouse and Fiorenzo Mattu .

The soundtrack is by Emanuele Contis , a Sardinian musician and composer whose artistic career is distinguished by his research work and a recognizable musical sensitivity.
