The multimedia exhibition "Frida Kahlo - Viva la vita" opens in Bitti on Saturday 8 April, at 10, and will be open until 9 July (Friday to Sunday) at the Ariston cinema.

The center of Barbagia is preparing for the start of the new tourist season and to welcome thousands of people in various places in the area: from the archaeological site of Romanzesu, to the Museum of Pastoral and Peasant Civilization to the Multimedia Museum of Canto a Tenore, the only one in the whole Sardinia where the ancient song of the shepherds is told. And again at the BittiRex open-air paleontological park, which from next week is ready to present important news to the many guests.

For school groups it will be possible to take advantage of a single ticket so as to facilitate access to the various attractions at advantageous costs. The management of the entrances and the reception are entrusted to the Istelai di Bitti cooperative, which already takes care of the activities of the museum area and the Nuragic area of Romanzesu.

The exhibition, financed by the Sardinia Region, the Sardinia Foundation and the Municipality of Bitti, was presented today at a press conference in the Miele Amaro bookshop in Nuoro, which for the occasion and also for the first week of opening has set up a space dedicated to Mexican artist. The meeting was attended by the mayor of Bitti, Giuseppe Ciccolini, the councilor for tourism, Christian Farina, the president of the Coop. Istelai, Francesco Coloru, and the art historian and curator of the exhibition, Emanuela Manca.

The paintings and life of Frida Kahlo are at the center of the exhibition presented through video projections, light and acoustic effects. A way to celebrate her figure as a woman and artist through a strong sensory impact capable of fully involving the visitor through the use of multimedia.

«Bitti is confirmed as one of the most important and sought-after destinations by lovers of multimedia exhibitions in Sardinia. A point of reference for an ever-growing public which, thanks to these appointments, is able to approach art with new interests and passions, capable of involving adults, young people and children», said mayor Ciccolini.

«The experience gained over the years, through exhibitions on Leonardo da Vinci or Van Gogh - explained the president of Istelai, Francesco Coloru -, has taught us that Sardinians are willing to travel, even for hundreds of kilometres, if there are offers cultural capable of making you dream and satisfy the desire for beauty and knowledge that animates many of our countrymen. Young people, families, grandparents, school groups and varied groups have always told us how much artistic experiences of this type are lacking in the territories, even in the big cities of the island, where you can spend one or more days in the name of art and traditions, archeology and good food, and even dinosaurs. Here in Bitti, also this year, we are ready to welcome those who want to immerse themselves in all these extraordinary experiences».

Emanuela Manca recalled that «Frida Kahlo was the first woman in the history of art to have faced with absolute frankness and in a ruthless, but at the same time calm way, very strong issues such as those of disability or those concerning women, becoming, not surprisingly, an icon of feminism. The exhibition – continued Manca – also presents a unique, exciting and revealing selection of photographs of the artist seen through the eyes of one of the most important world photographers of the 20th century, the Colombian Leo Matiz. Overall, the exhibition presents the life of Frida Kahlo characterized by a difficult physical condition, but at the same time marked by a great capacity for resilience in the face of adversity. The result is therefore the portrait of a strong, independent, experimental, revolutionary woman who was able to transform her immobility and suffering into an energy that made her immortal and a true icon for several generations from all over the world».
