"Unfortunately, even in Sardinia the collateral victims of the war in Ukraine have names and surnames: fathers and mothers of families who in recent days were fired by the Russian tycoons who own luxury residences on the Costa Smeralda. devastating consequences, I believe it is necessary and urgent for the Region to intervene to support with protection actions and, if necessary, economic support measures, all the workers who were left at home overnight ".

This was stated by the regional councilor of the 5 Star Movement Roberto Li Gioi, who presented an ad hoc question to the Solinas junta "to ask for the immediate protection of workers fired by Russian tycoons residing in Gallura affected by the economic sanctions imposed by the EU on Russia with the aim of ending the war ”.

"The economic sanctions decided by the EU against Putin's Russia to put an end to this terrible armed conflict that has already caused thousands of deaths - continues Li Gioi - hit the oligarchs close to Putin, who reacted swiftly against all the staff employed in their luxury residences in Costa Smeralda. As reported by Cisl Gallura, many gardeners, maintenance workers, security officers and administrators, received bitter dismissal letters with immediate effects, while as many local construction companies engaged in works of redevelopment and maintenance of the Russian tycoons' real estate properties had to leave the orders already assigned ".

"In Gallura, according to the Sardinia Tourism Observatory, over 40 thousand Russians spend their holidays, for a total of 220 thousand visitors. The resulting turnover, between direct and indirect, amounts to about 80 million euros", he says still the pentastellato councilor. "Therefore, the risk is becoming more and more concrete that, after the dark years and the serious economic crisis linked to the pandemic, a black season and a heavy reduction in employment can also be envisaged for 2022".

"The Region - concludes Li Gioi - cannot remain indifferent and turn away. I think it is therefore appropriate to evaluate as soon as possible what interventions to implement to protect those who, without any fault, have lost the certainty of the present and the future" .
