The last battle he fought until the end, but that ugly evil that suddenly came a little over a year ago finally took it away.

The municipal councilor of the Democratic Party Marco Piras died today at the age of 53 after months of fighting a tumor that left him no way out. Despite his combative character, in private and working life - he was a marshal of the Air Force - as well as in politics. A combative by nature, a characteristic that led him to fill the role of leader of the dem group in the last council, then reconfirmed in the current administration even if for a short time.

Absent for months from the Via Porcu classroom, he was also elected president of the Toponymy Commission, with many proposals announced after his appointment which unfortunately he was unable to carry out due to his health conditions which worsened day after day.

"I am speechless", the comment of the mayor Graziano Milia, one of the first to know of the news of the death of the director Piras. “It is a great pain not only for his family but for all those who have had the good fortune to know him and appreciate his great human and intellectual gifts. The same dignity - underlines Milia - with which he faced his terrible illness testifies to the character of a strong and generous man. Leave a great void, we will miss him so much ".

"A friend and brother is leaving, even before a comrade in political battles", the words of party colleague Francesco Piludu, whom Marco Piras had supported in his candidacy for mayor at the end of 2020. And there are many comments of condolence and memories posted on social media by local politicians, friends and colleagues.
