Cagliari ranks 44th among Italian cities for quality of life. The ranking was drawn up by the 2024 survey of Sole 24 Ore, with the capital city placing itself in the middle of the ranking but losing 21 positions compared to last year.

Looking at the different entries, Cagliari is among the top ten provinces in the business and work category (8th place) and in the culture and free time category (10th).

As for the other cities and provinces of the island, Southern Sardinia is among the last ones (93rd place) , but Oristano, Sassari and Nuoro do not shine either, respectively in 75th, 78th and 87th place.

Oristano, however, is 17th for justice and security, a category in which Sassari is 32nd.

At the bottom, as mentioned, is Southern Sardinia, one of the poorest provinces in Italy (87th) and where there are few opportunities for culture and leisure (104th place) and where the cradles remain empty (106th place for demography and society).
