This was announced in a statement by the brand owned by Kuwait Petroleum Corporation, Kuwait's state-owned oil group.
"Q8 Italia, accepting the Italian government's invitation, will apply a price cap on gasoline and diesel, confirming its commitment to supporting consumers," the statement reads. "The price cap will last 30 days starting October 1st and is intended to generate tangible benefits for motorists."
The company does not quantify the price, from what we read in the press release it seems that it will not be a fixed tariff like those applied by Eni and IP (2.19 euros per litre for diesel and 1.99 for petrol).
The price cap, the statement reads, will be applied with a modular approach, consistent with the different entities that make up the company's distribution system . Q8 Italia will provide appropriate support to operators and partners to ensure the economic sustainability of the entire supply chain.
Q8, in its statement, specifies that the decision comes "in a context characterized by significant geopolitical crises and significant tensions over fuel prices" and is intended to be "consistent with the responsible behavior concretely adopted by the company in recent months, aimed at protecting consumers and maintaining its competitiveness."
With the decision by Eni, Ip and Q8, the regulated prices, when applied to the entire network of the three groups, will concern over 11 thousand service stations in Italy, equal to approximately 50% of the national network .
