"What has been created around this book in recent years is something incredible." Thus begins a post published by Sardinian writer Piergiorgio Pulixi .

She talks about "The Appointment," a book published in 2014: "I've written twenty-four books. I've been fortunate to meet readers who, over time, have grown fond of Biagio Mazzeo, Strega, Eva and Mara, Marzio Montecristo, and Daniel Crobu, as if they were true friends. And yet, despite this, "The Appointment" remains one of the books most beloved by my readers."

So far, so normal, except that that book is increasingly difficult to find today and, as often happens in economics, when a good is scarce, consumers are willing to pay higher prices to obtain it.

This is what happens online; to verify it, just do a simple Google search: "What's been happening for years in the used market is not right," says Pulixi. "You can't sell (and buy) a book for 500 euros. I confess that, in recent years, when I happened to see this and other books of mine fetch crazy prices, I bought some copies myself. Out of embarrassment . Because I didn't want any loyal readers to fall into that trap. It seemed profoundly wrong to me ."

"I couldn't buy them all, of course," he adds. "Nor could I always keep track of what was happening on the various second-hand sites. And every time I was asked to sign copies purchased at absurd prices, I always did so, out of respect and gratitude, but with great embarrassment, praying whoever I was in front of would never make that mistake again."

Finally, an announcement : "The only way I can prevent these copies from continuing to sell at such high prices is to republish them. And that's what will happen in a month with "The Appointment." New edition. New publisher. So everyone who hasn't had the chance to buy and read it will finally be able to add it to their collection, without having to give in to absurd speculation. I only ask you to wait a month."
