“ Telling Pula ” is the title of the latest anthology published by the Library of Sardinia, edited by Claudia Casula , 40 years old. The book recalls the memories of 40 elderly people who recounted their past between the years surrounding the Second World War.
« Each testimony introduced me to a part of Pula that I didn't know – explains Claudia Casula excitedly – A tradition, a place experienced differently from today thanks to the presence of a fountain are just some examples. The testimonies are striking precisely because they allow us to take a leap into the past to relive those moments."
The book is arousing interest both among older Pulesi, but also younger people who want to discover how their grandparents lived.
«The book differs from the others in the series because Pula is a town in itself – says Casula – A town in central Sardinia will not have experienced the war like us, with air raids, alarms and sirens. Historically, Pula has had a more agricultural-pastoral tradition and these discussions are explored in depth by the stories of those people I personally interviewed."
