"This Government is proving to be deaf to every initiative in support of pluralism and freedom of the press". This was underlined by the president of the Italian Federation of Newspaper Publishers, Andrea Riffeser Monti, commenting on the Government's action in the context of the examination of the Budget Law.
"We cannot fail to take note of the Government's failure to take any concrete initiative to support quality professional information. This disconcerting behavior puts at risk the employment of hundreds of journalists and thousands of employees of our companies as well as compromising the right of citizens to inform themselves and be informed."
Riffeser Monti adds: «We will not remain silent: with an appeal that we publish in all the daily and periodical newspapers edited by our companies, we invite all Parliamentarians, from the majority and opposition groups, to remedy the deafness of the Government by voting in favor of concrete and adequate interventions to guarantee the effectiveness of article 21 of the Constitution and the Pluralism of information».
