An extraordinary congress of the PSD'Az will be held within the year. Party secretary Christian Solinas announced it on the sidelines of the assembly at the Cagliari Fair, convened to relaunch political action after recent difficulties. Above all, the criticisms of the former governor's secretariat will be expressed tomorrow in Orgosolo at the Sardinian Atobiu (the meeting) initiative, with party president Antonio Moro, and Mayor Pasquale Mereu hosting the event.
Why an extraordinary congress? " We have rediscovered a wealth of very important programmatic and intellectual developments," explains Solinas. "There is a strong need for local roots, and a desire to restart with an extraordinary congress that will establish a new political line and finally establish bodies capable of reaching out across Sardinia to proselytize."
Today's assembly in Cagliari was scheduled after the Atobiu organizers chose the 24th in Orgosolo. "We're here," adds Solinas. "The PSD'Az isn't just celebrating its birthdays; it's an active player in Sardinian political life. It's currently pursuing internal and external regeneration and wants to reconcile itself, first and foremost, with the Sardinians. Relations with other parties will come later."
And what's your response to tomorrow's event in Orgosolo and the criticism? "The Sardinian party is here today. The response isn't so much that of the secretary as that of the many sections and people who want to build and achieve. For anyone willing to build a politically regenerative path with us, the doors are open."
Finally, a word on alliances ahead of the upcoming regional elections: "Since the 2024 Arborea congress, the party has reaffirmed a long-standing commitment. We make programmatic agreements that focus on Sardinia's interests. Right now, we're interested in developing this programmatic legacy and then engaging with all the political forces and coalitions willing to make concrete commitments to implement key elements of our program."
