This is the first time in Sardinia . Today, from 8am to 8pm, the people voting for the assemblies and presidents of the six provinces (Nuoro, Oristano, Ogliastra, Sulcis Iglesiente, Medio Campidano Gallura), and for the metropolitan councils of Cagliari and Sassari, will not be the citizens but the administrators themselves.

Mayors and city councilors. This is what the Delrio law, which dates back to 2014, provides. The Region has never applied it, except in part, preferring, for over ten years, to entrust the leadership of intermediate bodies to special administrators.

Today, things are changing, but everyone hopes to soon return to the system that existed before 2014 : a national bill that provides for the reinstatement of direct elections has already been approved on the island, while a measure with the same objective is being tabled in the Chambers.
