"The situation regarding the impossibility of embarking certain types of goods on ships to and from Sardinia is continuing to create serious discomfort for workers and companies in the sector".

With this premise Roberto Deriu , regional councilor of the Democratic Party, signed a new question, signed by the entire dem group, presented to the Region.

«Grimaldi – explains Deriu – communicated that it can no longer transport goods such as animals, dead animals, carcasses and other types. Although the company has guaranteed the embarkation and transport service during the winter, it has announced the suspension of the service in view of the summer. The only Grimaldi ferry that could accommodate such goods is the one used for the Genoa-Cagliari route, with the return from Cagliari-Porto Torres-Genoa, which however is clearly unsustainable for the workers".

«As if that weren't enough – continues the councilor of the Democratic Party –, since last April the Moby company has eliminated from Sardinia all ships dedicated exclusively to the transport of goods. This creates a further difficulty for companies and workers in the sector, especially in northern Sardinia».

For this reason, the councilors of the Democratic Party turned to the regional councilor for transport asking to «take concrete actions to resolve the problems in question» .

«It is essential that we take note of this unsustainable situation which is causing serious consequences for the local economy and the transport sector in Sardinia. Workers and companies are waiting for a timely response and urgent solutions that can guarantee the continuity of the transport of vital goods for the island», concludes Roberto Deriu.
