A record July for Cagliari airport: 402 thousand were domestic passengers, while the previous record, in 2019, was 383,500.
A growing season with numbers approaching those of before the pandemic.
Last May 412,600 passengers were registered, with a growth of about 5% compared to the same month in 2019; June settled at 511,000 passengers, in line with 2019 figures. In July, a total of 582,400 passengers, of which about 180,500 international.
It must be said, however, as Sogaer herself points out, that "over 500 flights in territorial continuity were missing from the call for July of this year compared to the same month of 2019 (800 in July '22 against 1,300 of July '19, for a reduction of approximately 38%) based on the provisions of the current decree. This reduction in flights corresponded to a loss of approximately 43,000 passengers from the Linate - Cagliari and Fiumicino - Cagliari lines (-29%). This growth in domestic traffic therefore reflects how productive the efforts made by Sogaer at the time have been to increase both the number of new national routes and the frequencies of those already operating at the airport ”.
The confirmation of the strong recovery in air traffic comes from the data of the first 7 months of 2022, with the Cagliari airport marking 2,370,000 passengers, a figure which shows a growth of 125.48% in comparison with the same period of 2021.
Finally, since the beginning of the year, the reduction in connections in territorial continuity has been well over 1,700 flights compared to 2019 (-28%).
