Postcards and toponymy to describe Sassari

Sassari is a multifaceted microcosm of traditions and cultural aspects that the news, history and ancient sources describe in its deepest intimacy through its sociality, the geography of urban places, cafés, consumption and walking, its toponymy, the characters who embodied its minor and everyday history. From Wednesday at 6pm the Sassari headquarters of the Sardinia Foundation hosts "Strade Maestre", the series of meetings organized by the Aristeo cultural club.

“Postcards from Sassari. The favorite places of the people of Sassari between the Belle Époque and the post-war period" is the title of the first in-depth study, edited by Stefania Bagella. The focus is linked to toponymy and odonomastics, an area of critical reflection on the evolution of urban contexts and on the history and function of streets.

The meeting is proposed as a journey through time through the illustrated postcards of Sassari: a window on the history, culture and beauty of the city in the golden age of postcards.
