Cruises to Cagliari close 2021 with 47 landings and about 60,000 passengers. But above all with a 2022 programming that allows us to glimpse results not far from those of the pre-crisis period.

These are the data provided in the year-end balance sheet by "Cagliari Cruise Port", the cruise terminal company of the capital.

The first arrival of 2022 is scheduled for January 21 with the Amera of the German shipowner Phoenix Reisen. And it continues until December with a calendar that includes 121 stopovers by 27 different shipping companies.

A decisive role will be played by the new Costa Cruises ship, the Costa Firenze, which will visit the port of Cagliari 33 times from April to November, while in second place is a new owner, Virgin Cruises who, after the tour organized by Cagliari Cruise Port in 2019 with the support of the Municipality, confirmed the Sardinian capital in its inaugural itinerary in the Mediterranean with 11 touches of the Valiant Lady.

Although the data illustrate a recovery, what is worrying - it was explained in the illustration of the final balance - is the Italian regulatory situation regarding the cruise sector to combat the pandemic. "All this entailed - explains Ccp - not only the cancellation of numerous calls in the port of Cagliari in 2021, but also an unprecedented volatility of the programming by the Companies. In fact, if, before 2020, the calendars were defined and confirmed with at least two years in advance ", now there is talk of" almost weekly re-visits, also following the epidemic trend in the countries of destination or in the countries of origin of the guests. The 2022 calendar of cruise ship arrivals in Cagliari is no exception, still showing itself today, a few weeks after the start of the new season, with many uncertainties ".
