The port of Alghero, like others on the island, will enjoy redevelopment thanks to the contribution of the Region. Yesterday there was an inspection by the councilor for public works, Aldo Salaris, in the presence of the mayor and the representatives of the Port Authority, an occasion during which the need emerged to carry out a series of interventions that will make the port more modern and efficient.
The Municipality is currently the beneficiary of a loan of 3 million for the completion of the quay of the breakwater. "However, additional resources are required to be used in restoring the internal viability of the port, to which must be added an intervention on the entire lighting system for adaptation to compliance and docking - explained Salaris - The requests have already arrived and now they are being evaluated for approximately 1.5 million euros ".
Several types of intervention in the context of the three million loan: in addition to the quay of the breakwater and the port excavation work to allow access for maxi yachts, also the reorganization of the land areas, delimiting the service areas and identifying the routes and areas for cycle and pedestrian use only, the redevelopment of the open port space in continuity with that of the historic center, the maintenance and adaptation of the lighting of the port areas, the reorganization and rationalization of the accesses to the port areas and the enhancement of the signage, the optimization of the exploitation of the port waters by preparing a mooring plan conceived according to a unitary logic, and finally the drafting of the Port Regulatory Plan (currently being completed).
Before Alghero, also yesterday, the councilor Salaris carried out another inspection of the port of Torregrande (Oristano), subject to rationalization interventions with the expansion of the spaces on the ground and the protected waters dedicated to pleasure boating, in addition to the modernization and strengthening of the structure for which 5.2 million euros have been allocated in these days.
But the inadequacy of the port's receptivity has emerged, especially for medium and large boats. Among the necessary interventions are the restoration of the original water tie rods, the adaptation of the plant equipment currently severely lacking and the drafting of the Port Regulatory Plan is also necessary.
