The Minister for Enterprise and Made in Italy, Adolfo Urso , telephoned this morning the President of the Sardinia Region, Alessandra Todde , regarding the employment crisis in Glencore's supply chain, urging her to send the letter announced yesterday to the press regarding the dispute involving workers in the supply chain of Portovesme srl (controlled by the multinational Glencore), "which at present had not yet reached the ministry ", according to a note from Mimit.

During the phone call, the minister explained to the governor , "in the spirit of full and loyal collaboration between the State bodies, what the competences of the Region and the governor are in managing the crisis, inviting her to make available the tools to support workers, which can be activated, in this specific case, only by the Region - it is written in a note from the Ministry - In addition to the ordinary shock absorbers provided for companies, all the production facilities operating in the 23 municipalities of the complex crisis area of Sulcis can, in fact, benefit from the redundancy fund , the allocation of which is defined annually by an agreement between the Region and the Ministry of Labor".

The minister also illustrated to the president the progress of the industrial requalification process , as agreed with the company at the meeting on 5 February, «which must necessarily also include an active commitment by the Sardinia Region on the energy issue , which affects the production potential of the entire Sulcis area».

The minister also spoke with the Minister of Labor Marina Calderone, "who confirmed, as always, her willingness to activate all the necessary tools if there were specific requests from the Region."

Finally, the minister also responded to the trade unions that had personally contacted him, also illustrating to them what the possible solutions are based on their respective institutional competences, "to give an immediate response to companies and workers in the related industries".

Urso also assured that the meeting on Portovesme will be convened as soon as the technical analysis by the potential new investor has been concluded .
