"An explosive situation that can no longer wait." This is the alarm raised by the unions who will soon meet the Region to try to unblock the industrial emergency of Portovesme . In the meantime, while some workers are waiting under the Regional building in Viale Trento to meet with President Todde and the Industry Councilor, Emanuele Cani, the picket line in front of the plant continues.
"The production of lead and zinc has been declared strategic for the country, but the commitments made at the national level have not yet translated into concrete actions. In the meantime, in the related companies we are witnessing a progressive reduction of the workforce, often without a clear discussion with the trade unions", said the regional secretary of the Cgil, Fausto Durante, this morning during the press conference announcing the mobilization in Sardinia on work and rights.
"The ministries must respect the commitments made and the Region must push for the discussion table to be reopened at the Ministry . We must understand whether the production of lead and zinc in Portovesme can continue, with Glencore or with another entity. But the only certain thing is that time is running out", concludes Durante.
