"If there is no news on the cost of energy, Portovesme srl has already communicated to the unions that in October it will stop 90% of production, leaving over 1000 workers between direct and indirect workers at home" .

This was announced by the trade unions, during the general assembly in the factory which confirmed the state of agitation of all the staff to avoid this possibility.

The unions are ready to mobilize the streets but are also waiting for the meeting that should take place on Thursday 4 in Rome between the CEO of Portovesme srl and the minister Cingolani. "We must keep attention on the employment issue in Sulcis - explains Emanuele Madeddu (Filctem Cgil) - and move regional energy policy from immobility. The new fact is that compared to yesterday's silence, we see a renewed attention from the Giunta ".

"Following the latest discussions with Minister Cingolani - states, in fact, in a note the regional councilor for Industry Anita Pili - and with its technical structure, reassurances have been given regarding the implementing decrees that will apply the instrument of 'energy release for the energy-intensive companies of Sardinia and Sicily. The tool should allow to partially fill the gap that the energy-intensive companies of the two major islands suffer in comparison to the other Italian companies of the same category, which may have other equalization tools of energy costs ".

Meanwhile, after the recognition of the principle of insularity in the Constitution , Cgil, Cisl and Uil believe that the energy issue may be "the first opportunity to make the law operational: Sardinia and Sicily are paying 40% more energy - explains Madeddu - we have said it several times: if Portovesme srl were in Brescia or Sassuolo it would have saved, this year alone, 50 million euros ".
