Clash between Region and Government on shock absorbers for Portovesme srl workers.
In the last few hours, after a phone call with the governor Alessandra Todde , the minister of Made in Italy Adolfo Urso urged the Sardinian regional council "to make available the support tools for workers, which can be activated, in this specific case, only by the Region".
This was followed by the position taken by Paolo Truzzu, group leader of Fratelli d'Italia, according to whom: «It is not acceptable to make propaganda on the backs of workers and, as has often happened so far, to pass the responsibility on to the national government, therefore President Todde should take immediate action for the regional social safety nets in favor of the Portovesme srl related industries».
But, for their part, the regional councilors for Labor and Industry, Desirè Manca and Emanuele Cani, reply: «The social safety nets have been active since January, but there is a lack of responses from the Government».
"As far as the Region of Sardinia is concerned - reads a note released by Manca and Cani - all income support tools for workers in the Portovesme supply chain have been activated . The offices of the Department of Labor - underlines Councilor Desirè Manca - starting from January 10, 2025 , the date of signing of the first pre-agreement that concerned the 496 workers of Portovesme Srl , have proceeded to sign all the pre-agreements necessary for the granting of the extraordinary wage integration treatment for workers in the Portovesme supply chain, pursuant to current legislation, with the commitment to implement active labor policy interventions for them".
"Specifically - continues the note released by the Region - on January 21, 2025, six other pre-agreements were signed for the workers of Eurallumina Spa, SE.GE.SA. Srl, ISC Srl, Mens@na Catering Srl, Reno Srl, CQ-NOL Srl. Following the signing of the pre-agreements, between January 10 and 24, the agreements aimed at granting the extraordinary wage supplementation fund treatment were signed at the Ministry of Labor and Social Policies between the Ministry, the unions, Confindustria, the companies involved and the Sardinia Region, in the presence, among others, of representatives of the Ministry of Business and Made in Italy . Furthermore: between January 28 and February 27, the decrees authorizing the granting of the measure were issued and which simultaneously give the mandate to INPS to proceed with the payment of the subsidy".
In short, the Region states, "all the workers of the Portovesme supply chain have been made safe by the Sardinia Region. The strong concern that remains concerns the lack of future prospects, the creation of a serious and credible alternative and clearly the continuity of production of the zinc and lead line" .
"We reiterate - concludes Industry Councillor Emanuele Cani - the need for the minister to immediately convene a meeting regarding the commitments made on 27 December in front of the Portovesme workers".
