Porto Torres: The Gesualdo Six inaugurate the XII edition of "Musica Maestro"

The British sextet The Gesualdo Six will be the guest of honor at the twelfth edition of the "Musica Maestro" festival scheduled in Porto Torres from 12 to 20 May. The award-winning vocal ensemble from the United Kingdom will close the billboard program organized by the Associazione Singers of the Resurrection, under the artistic direction of Maestro Fabio Fresi. The event was presented in the council chamber of the Municipality, with the participation of the councilor for Culture Maria Bastiana Cocco, the president of the Cantori Miriam Ada Porcu, maestro Fresi and don Michele Murgia, parish priest of the church of Cristo Risorto: this year the review is included in the program of celebrations for the fiftieth anniversary of the foundation of the parish, which has hosted the Singers of the Resurrection since their birth.
The first three evenings will take place precisely at the Risen Christ at 21: on 12 May the program will be opened by the Little Singers directed by Adele Diana accompanied by the young people of the IC2 Instrumental Ensemble “Don Antonio Sanna, protagonists of the evening will be the Tenor Durgalesu of Dorgali. Saturday 13 May will be dedicated to polyphonic singing and will host two of the most important choral ensembles on the island: the Vocal ensemble of Nuoro, directed by Franca Floris, and the Luigi Canepa Choir of Sassari, directed by Luca Sirigu.
Sunday 14 May instrumental evening with the piano of the young but already established Simone Ivaldi. Each evening will be introduced by a musical welcome from the hosts, the Singers of the Resurrection. On 20 May at 9pm, the key evening in San Gavino, in conjunction with Open Monuments: the basilica will host The Gesualdo Six who will play "Lux Aeterna", a sequence of poignant music full of hope to commemorate the deceased and overcome mourning. The group is made up of some of the best singers in the UK, and is managed by Owain Park. Celebrated for its programming and impeccable blending, the ensemble was formed in 2014 for a performance of Gesualdo da Venosa's Tenebrae Responsories in Cambridge and has gone on to perform at a number of major international festivals.
"Lux Aeterna" was created to illustrate some of the emotions related to the death of loved ones, exploring the musical responses to mourning and loss. The Musica Maestro review is supported by the Fondazione di Sardegna and by Salude & Trigu of the Chamber of Commerce of Sassari with the patronage of the Municipality of Porto Torres, Fersaco and Feniarco, and the Region of Sardinia.
