Mourning in the world of boxing that bids farewell to Raimondo Usai , 70 years old from Porto Torres , for about half a century in the ring, first as a boxer then as a teacher. He passed away in the afternoon after a long illness, heart problems that left him no escape. His great passion for boxing saw him as the protagonist of many events, guide and teacher of many boxers such as the professional Angelo Sassu, but also of boxing events linked to the spirit of solidarity.

His boxing gym, the Asd Turris Battista Martellini, in via Petronia, was like his home, a center that counted several young aspiring boxers and teachers who accompanied him in his long experience as a trainer. A former Sices worker, as a pensioner he had always dedicated himself to young people, promoting sports initiatives in the city of Porto Torres and beyond. He had recently been awarded a certificate of merit by the Italian Boxing Federation for his long career.

"Raimondo Usai, a historic figure of Sardinian boxing, has passed away. We met him a few days ago, suffering but hopeful for the surgery he was supposed to undergo.
