The Dettori Woodcut Laboratory is celebrating its first anniversary with the inauguration of the exhibition "Sardinia: Woodcuts between East and West" on Saturday, October 25th at 5:30 pm. This exhibition is the result of a collaboration between the Dettori Woodcut Laboratory and the Pinacoteca Nazionale di Sassari, directed by Maria Paola Dettori, the project's initiator. During the inauguration, visitors will be able to admire prestigious engravings from Japan, China, Slovenia, the United States, Argentina, and Italy, as well as learn how an art print is created and thus learn to view prints with a more informed eye.

The initiative was attended by the Printsaurus Association of Tokyo, specifically Man Zhuang and Katori Takeshi; American artists Claudio Orso Giacone, Karen Kunc, and Gilead Tadmor; Slovenian artist Leon Zakrajsek, who will be present at the event; Chinese artist Nanhao Wang; Marcelo Bagnati and Liliana Esteban of the El Cantaro Association; and Italian artists Guido Navaretti and Gianfranco Schialvino, who were present at the opening. The event is being held in collaboration with Alice Patteri and Alessandro Carboni, students at the M. Sironi Academy of Fine Arts in Sassari, who provided support to the team.

The exhibition further demonstrates the vitality of the "engraving community" and its willingness to collaborate to preserve and perpetuate this ancient art. The October 25th exhibition is linked to the conference "Inscriptions and Engravings: A Journey to Discover the Book" at the Antiquarium Turritano in Porto Torres (October 24, 2025, 5:30 PM, Antiquarium Turritano), strongly supported by the director of the national archaeological museum, Stefano Giuliani, to promote the culture of beauty and art in the city of Porto Torres. The conference will be presented by Councilor for Culture Maria Bastiana Cocco, Giovanni Dettori, and art historian Gianfranco Schialvino.
