Difficult hours for the workers of Cim , the metalworking company that operates within the Porto Torres industrial plant . The workers , about fifteen of whom are six fixed-term employees, complain about the non-payment of salaries .
After the workers' protests in front of the gates of the industrial plant and the intervention of the unions, there was no response to the meeting request made by the CGIL, CISL and UIL territorial secretariats to the Cmci Conzorzio of which the insolvent company is part.
«It is sad to see problems of this nature affecting local companies», comments the mayor Massimo Mulas . «The entrepreneurial, organizational and system limits, in fact, cannot and must not be placed on workers who have always guaranteed their professionalism».
Monthly arrears, lack of means and material to satisfy the requests for the contract granted by the companies Eni Rewind, Versalis and Matrìca. Regarding the complex condition of the employees, the confederal secretaries Massimiliano Muretti (CGIL), Sergio Mura (CISL) and Marco Foddai sent a letter to the clients Eni Rewind, Versalis and Matrìca, and to the Cmci Consortium itself, to request an intervention by this 'last.
«Once again, faced with the legitimate protest of those who claim the right to fair remuneration for their work, - adds the mayor - we reiterate what was already underlined during the open municipal council of last June 6th when, in front of the representatives of the multinationals operating in the area, we have highlighted the need to activate contracts and orders capable of avoiding compromising the tranquility of the workers working on the site".
The mayor reiterates that " no one can be allowed to activate a sort of tug of war between the parties that results in the workers' lives ".
«We hope that, through the intervention of the unions and the effective and indispensable action of the clients - concludes Mulas - we can resolve the problem and establish a calm and constructive dialogue. It is essential to avoid a hemorrhage of jobs and ensure that the companies present on the site, if serious, correct and respectful of the national collective labor agreements, do not miss out on development opportunities."
