In the penultimate event of the season, Porto Cervo Libri will immerse its audience in the intrigues of Rome's criminal underworld . Tomorrow, starting at 7:30 p.m., the small beach in Porto Cervo's Piazza Centrale will host Giuseppe Scarpa and his novel "Roma criminale."
During the evening, in conversation with his colleague Davide Mosca, the crime and judicial journalist for La Repubblica will present his latest literary work, which draws inspiration from true events that the author has followed tirelessly for years.
The protagonist of Scarpa's novel is Sandro Marinelli, known as the Executioner, the leader of the most violent ultras at the Olimpico stadium. A charismatic neo-fascist, he is also a drug trafficker, a high-ranking mafia official, and the right-hand man of the capital's most powerful mafioso. The result is a powerful and harrowing story that sheds light on a raw, criminal Rome, a merciless tale of the criminal underworld that rules from the shadows.
An investigative journalist and television writer , Scarpa has covered investigations into organized crime, neo-fascism, political corruption, medical malpractice, and illegal trafficking, also investigating some of Italy's greatest mysteries, such as the Cesaroni murder and the disappearance of Emanuela Orlandi. His work has helped map crime in Rome, revealing its often hidden dynamics and connections.
In addition to his field investigations , Scarpa has also covered high-impact stories through documentaries such as "Stefano Cucchi - La Seconda Verità," which exposes cover-ups in the Cucchi case, and "Tagli," dedicated to youth self-harm. He also directed "In quanto donne," a series on gender violence, and "Sara," a documentary on the femicide of Sara Di Pietrantonio, which won a Nastri d'Argento award.
Admission to tomorrow's event is free.
