The new initiative to save the Canal Port , after the failure of the negotiations with Q-Terminals to take over the concession of the container terminal, passes through Parliament .

"We have brought the situation of the port of Cagliari to the Government's attention, committing it to convene the interministerial table to identify a useful strategy for its relaunch also in the Transshipment activity", says the deputy of Fratelli d'Italia Salvatore Deidda , chairman of the Transport Commission of the Chamber and first signatory of the FdI agenda, signed by colleagues Lampis, Mura and Polo, approved by the Government .

It is necessary, he adds, "to foresee the opportunity to intervene in the field of state property concessions or port activities especially in those Ports such as Cagliari and Taranto which have seen a reduction in activity".

"We have made a commitment not to let the dispute fall into oblivion and we do so immediately, emphasizing our willingness to support the growth of a fundamental sector not only for Cagliari or Sardinia but for the national economy", concludes Deidda .

The port is not completely stopped thanks to the operations of Mito, the company controlled by the Grendi group, through MSC for the management of empty containers. But it is certainly not enough, denounce the Filt CGIL trade unions: «Given the absence of commercial contracts, it is not a solution capable of sustaining a real relaunch of the airport, whose characteristics and infrastructure deserve greater interest and development so that it can truly be defined as a hub international".
