The agreement between the Region and the Government has been ratified, and now the road leading Domenico Bagalà to the presidency of the Sardinian Sea Port System Authority is all downhill.

The current special commissioner, appointed on August 9th, will be heard by the House Transportation Committee on Tuesday. He will then be heard by the Senate Committee, and the final appointment will be approved within a few days—it seems likely within the month.

The name of the 57-year-old engineer, born in Calabria but long-established on the island, was proposed directly by Minister Matteo Salvini.

The nomination, however, has sparked controversy. For example, the PSDAz has harshly attacked Bagalà as president: "An island colonized by national parties," commented party president Antonio Moro ( VIDEO ).
