"Northern Sardinia must have a port system authority dedicated to the territory". This is the request contained in the agenda approved yesterday during the session of the Chamber - dedicated to the bill on investments for the safety of infrastructures and transport - presented by Nardo Marino, deputy of the 5 Star Movement and member of the Transport Commission . The act commits the government to evaluate the opportunity to establish the Port Authority of the "Northern Sardinian Sea" by intervening on the port regulations which in 2016, with the entry into force of Legislative Decree 169, merged 57 Italian ports, reducing the number of port authorities.

"The approval of my agenda - explains Marino - lays the foundations for the restoration of the Port Authority in the north of Sardinia. I hope that now the Region will also do its part and take action to return to Olbia and northern Sardinia what was stolen in 2016 with a view to unacceptable centralization, given the different characteristics of the port system in the south and north. I firmly believe that two AdSPs are necessary to better manage a sector so important for our economy ".

The deputy highlighted “the inadequacy of the current port regulations that do not take into account the situation in Sardinia: after more than five years from the entry into force of Legislative Decree no. 169 - reads the act - it is necessary to review the subdivision made at the time. The profound changes in the Sardinian economy and the infrastructural investments in ten-T networks require an update of the system. The north-east of the island with Olbia already the seat of the abolished Port Authority in recent years has recorded an increase in passenger and freight routes such as to require a port system authority that can best represent the needs of the territory. To allow the territory the recognition it asks for and deserves, it would be enough, as has already happened in the past, to provide for an amendment to article 6 of law no. 84, which provides for the establishment of the AdSP of the Northern Sardinian Sea ".

“Our Island - continues Marino - is the region with the greatest coastal development with 1,849 km, followed by Sicily with 1,500 km. Unlike the latter on which three AdSPs insist, Sardinia, while boasting a decidedly more significant coastal development, continues to have only one AdSP ”. Therefore "it is necessary that northern Sardinia has a dedicated port authority with Olbia as the seat of AsDP to which also the ports of Porto Torres, Golfo Aranci and Santa Teresa Gallura can be attributed".
