Polls in the Marche region reopened this morning at 7:00 a.m. for the second day of voting to elect regional councilors and president.

Voting will close at 3:00 PM, with counting the ballots to begin later. The two leading candidates are Matteo Ricci, a Democratic Party MEP leading the center-left, and Francesco Acquaroli, the outgoing center-right governor. Then there are Claudio Bolletta for Sovereign Popular Democracy, Francesco Gerardi for Forza del Popolo, Lidia Mangani for the Italian Communist Party, and Beatrice Marinelli for Evolution of the Revolution.

Turnout is down: as of 11 pm last night, 37.71% of eligible voters had gone to vote , compared to 42.72% in 2020. 499,917 residents of the Marche have already cast their votes.

The first day of voting saw a turnout of 37.72% in the Ancona constituency (compared to 42.96% in 2020). In the Ascoli Piceno constituency, the percentage was 36.26% (41.07% in 2020), in the Fermo constituency 38.37% (43.05% in 2020), in the Macerata constituency 35.82% (40.51% in 2020), and in the Pesaro and Urbino constituency 40.07% (45.34% in 2020). The following percentages were recorded at 11 p.m. in the regional and provincial capitals: Ancona 37.89%, Ascoli Piceno 38.74%, Fermo 43.06%, Macerata 39.81%, and Pesaro 42.88%.
