The general election is approaching , and in Sardinia, too, the parties are warming up. The incumbents will do everything they can to secure a re-election, but regional councilors and ministers are itching to make the big leap. The countdown has begun, and now it's just a matter of figuring out when it will end: the legislative term naturally expires in September 2027, but the most realistic think the elections will be held in early summer, if not sooner.
A few names are already at the center of the initial rumors. We're talking about those who would be entering Parliament for the first time, both in the Campo largo and the center-right. Among them: Giuseppe Meloni and Piero Comandini (Democratic Party), Desirè Manca (M5S), Angelo Cocciu (Forza Italia), Paolo Truzzu (FdI), and Stefano Tunis (Sardegna 20Venti).
THE NUMBERS – The Melonellum system will debut in the 2027 general election, replacing the current Rosatellum system. However, the number of parliamentarians each region receives will remain unchanged. This number of seats depends on population, so it will not change with the electoral law change. Between the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate, sixteen incumbents have been elected in Sardinia , and many will win seats in the next round as well.
