Extortion , witchcraft accusations and two brothers on opposite sides of the dock: this is the story relating to events dating back to 2022 that concerns the French footballer Paul Pogba , and which will see six people on trial in Paris, including his brother Mathias Pogba .

Two Parisian judges have ordered the indictment of Mathias Pogba and five other acquaintances and people close to the 2018 World Cup champion, after two years of investigations.

In the trial order, seen by the France Presse agency, the two judges consider that the people in question organised, on 19 March 2022, a meeting in the Paris suburbs to "force" the Juventus midfielder to give them money .

In the summer of 2022, the Bleus champion, also very well known in Italy , reported extortion attempts he suffered between March and July 2022, for several million euros . In one of the interrogations, the footballer said, in particular, that he had been framed by childhood friends who came to him together with two men in balaclavas to ask him for 13 million euros. He allegedly paid 100,000 .

Pogba told investigators that he recognized his brother Mathias as one of the two with his face covered. A modest lower-division footballer, Mathias had long acted as his brother Paul's "protector" before publicly accusing him on Twitter of being a "vile traitor."
