The Sardinia Region officially blocks the tender for the assignment of flights in territorial continuity between the airports of Alghero, Cagliari and Olbia and the hubs of Linate and Fiumicino.

With a determination by the director of the service for maritime and air transport and territorial continuity of the regional transport department, the proposals of Ita Airways were accepted which accepted for 12 months, from 15 May 2022 to 14 May 2023, the costs of public service on the six routes, without taking advantage of exclusive rights and without receiving financial compensation.

The official then noted the ineffectiveness "of the open tender procedure for the exclusive management of the scheduled air service" which should have started on October 1, 2022 with a duration of two years and financial compensation for the companies, money which instead they will remain in the regional coffers.

THE ROUTES - Ita in its operation provides three flights a day to and from Alghero both on Fiumicino and Linate and vice versa, as many to and from Olbia (which become 4 in the months of July and August) and seven to and from Cagliari from May to October (6 flights a day from November) to Rome and four to Linate from May to June, 5 flights in July, and 6 from August to October to return to 4 flights from November.

RATES - The rates are those established by the tender: 39 euros on Fiumicino and 47 euros on Linate, taxes and charges excluded. The times are already defined, given that the tickets have already been put on sale by Ita on the travel agency system: among the flights there are those of 6.30 and 7.20 departing from Cagliari for Rome or those of 6.45 and 9.30 for Milan. . It is only necessary to understand which time slots Volotea will want to cover, which has already submitted the formal request to the Region to be able to operate, again without compensation and without exclusivity, for 12 months on the routes from the Sardinian capital and from Olbia to Fiumicino and Linate. In short, a table with the Region will be needed to define the slots and that will be the real "battle" between the two companies that want to grab the most profitable flights (and timetables).
