Baroque "bel canto" arrives tomorrow, November 16th, at 8:30 pm at the Giovanni Lilliu Auditorium in Nuoro. Soprano Micol Pisanu and lutenist Francesca Torelli pay homage to Barbara Strozzi. This composer astonishes with her harmonic daring, her variety of emotional expressions, and, in her cantatas, the immediacy with which these emotions alternate. The musical output of Barbara Strozzi, one of the most important composers of the Baroque era, represents a true treasure trove of passion, introspection, and virtuosity.
The title of the concert dedicated to her, “Barbara Strozzi, Scherzi e lacrime,” is illustrative and already clarifies the themes of the show they will attend for the spectators expected at the Isre.
Interpreting its pages with great refinement are the two artists, who, through their extensive repertoire in concert and through publications, have long been committed to promoting 17th-century repertoire and the women composers of the era. On November 21st, their CD featuring Barbara Strozzi's music will be released by Da Vinci Classics.
The "Barbara Strozzi, Scherzi e Lacrime" concert is part of the Musica è Donna project, conceived by the Spettacoli Cultura Association and produced with the support of the Ministry of Culture - General Directorate of Entertainment FUS. The project aims to showcase the talent of all-female artists - conductors, singers, and musicians - with a particular focus on young women under 35, while also offering a high-quality cast and musical-cultural offering.
