On Sunday, November 8, Pimentel will host the fifth edition of “Saperi e Sapori in sa idda de Pramantellu,” the event dedicated to the culture, crafts, and gastronomic specialties of Trexenta.

Starting at 10:00 a.m., the historic center will welcome artisans, producers, exhibitors, and musicians, with workshops, demonstrations, guided tours, and performances throughout the streets, squares, and homes of the town. It will be possible to witness the creation of materials used for generations, learn how to prepare local recipes, and visit places that tell the story of Pimentel's ancient history.

"As the Assonanze Association, we are proud and happy to organize the fifth edition of Saperi e Sapori in sa idda de Pramantellu again this year. This event represents an extraordinary opportunity for us to showcase the cultural heritage, artisanal traditions, and food and wine excellence of Pimentel and the Trexenta region. Together, we will experience a day of community, discovery, and sharing in the heart of our historic center, with many workshops, good food, music, history, and tradition," says Isabella Sollai, president of the Assonanze Cultural Association.

The ancient crafts and flavours of local cuisine

The artisan workshops have always been one of the most popular parts of Saperi e Sapori. They're not just demonstrations to watch, but activities where the public can participate and interact directly with those who know and practice these crafts.

On Via Guasila, Antonio Cogodi will demonstrate the making of "su scatteddu," a traditional basket made from reeds and wild olive. At Casa Palmas, at 10:30 a.m., architect Sara Collu and biobuilder Luca Murgia will guide participants in the making of "su ladiri," the raw earth brick used to build many Campidano homes.

Caterina Meloni will return to Piazza del Carmine with "Su Strexiu 'e Fenu," dedicated to hay weaving, while at Casa Curreli the Pro Loco of Pimentel will present the traditional men's and women's costumes, explaining their characteristics and peculiarities during the dressing.

A significant portion of the day will be dedicated to cooking. You'll be able to watch the preparation of bread and cheese, "is zippuasa," the typical Carnival fritters, "su gattou," the almond-based dessert, and "sa fregua." These preparations require experience and skill, entrusted to the people and associations who continue to pass them down.

This year's new offerings also include the LOGA Distillery, which will be holding a workshop on its artisanal production at 12 pm at Casa Perra.

The Domus de Janas and the archaeological heritage

Those wishing to learn more about Pimentel's history can join guided tours of the Domus de Janas of S'Acqua Salida and Corongiu, scheduled from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. with Ichnussa and Archeo Tour. A shuttle bus service will be available to reach the sites from Piazza Fontana, and can be booked at the Infopoint in the same square.

The Multimedia Museum of the Domus de Janas, located in Montegranatico, will also be open, with guided tours led by Antes Servizi di Archeologia, Turismo e Marketing. The museum was created as part of a project funded by the GAL Sole Grano Terra, which involves the municipalities of Pimentel, Silius, and Gesico.

At Casa Perra, thanks to Pillollalab viewers, it will be possible to virtually enter the Domus de Janas and observe their interiors. The technology thus allows those who cannot physically reach them to experience these sites, while also avoiding excessive crowding of the archaeological spaces.

The route through the historic center will also include an exhibition of vintage tractors and, in front of the Montegranatico, the activities of the Funtana Onnis Medieval Archers of Guasila, with archery demonstrations and historical reenactments.

Music, masks and shows in the squares

From the morning, music will accompany the audience through the town streets. Performers will be Leonardo Palmas and Stefano Tatti, with launeddas, and twins Andrea and Marco Sollai, with accordion and accordion.

At 3 pm, in Funtanedda, there's a reggae performance by Bujumannu, the legendary voice of Train To Roots, along with Valentina Steri, aka Sista Namely, and Islasound.

At the same time, Su Cunzertu Antigu, an all-female musical group performing traditional Sardinian songs, will be performing in Piazza Fontana.

Starting at 4:00 PM, "Is Mustayonis e s'Orku Foresu" (The Mustayonis and S'Orku Foresu) will return to the streets of Pimentel in Sestu. The traditional masks, already featured at the event in 2024, will be the protagonists of a traveling performance.

The musical finale will be "Marta and her group," scheduled for 5 pm in Piazza del Carmine. Singer Marta Schirru, accompanied by seven musicians, will perform a Sardinian ethno-pop show with a repertoire ranging from modern music, folklore, and traditional dances.

Two entertainment events are planned for children, at 11 am and 3 pm in Piazza del Carmine.

A Sunday in the streets of Pimentel

Alongside the scheduled events, there will be exhibitors' stands and refreshment points throughout the day, with gastronomic options for those who want to stop for lunch or take a break.

The event is promoted by the Municipality of Pimentel in collaboration with the Assonanze Cultural Association, funded by the Union of Municipalities of Trexenta, and organized in collaboration with the Cagliari-Oristano Chamber of Commerce, the Cagliari-Oristano Business Services Center, Percorsi d'autunno, and Coldiretti Cagliari.
